Narrative:
While working my shift, incident occurred towards the end of the 10-hour shift. Time constraint, aircraft X was late to arrive at the gate. I was directed by my lead to install a r-hand wing position/strobe light assembly on aircraft X. The plane was only being worked by 1 mechanic and was late to the gate, there being the reason I went sent over to lend a hand. After glancing the maintenance manual over and noticing the l-hand aft wing position/strobe light assembly, I proceeded to install the r-hand assembly while also being confronted by my lead and supervisor to hurry and get the job done so the plane could get to the gate. In error, the r-hand assembly was installed upside down, matching the l-hand wing assembly.
