Aircraft #1 was sebound at FL250. Aircraft #2 was nwbound climbing to FL280. Aircraft #2's slow rate of clt not recognized in time to provide separation. Aircraft #1 was turned 20 degrees right. Turn was not sufficient to provide lateral separation.

Title: ZID ARTCC RADAR CTLR CTLING 2 CRJ ACFT ON CONVERGING COURSES FAILED TO RECOGNIZE CLBING CRJ WOULD NOT REACH ASSIGNED ALT IN TIME TO AVOID A CONFLICT.
Narrative: ACFT #1 WAS SEBOUND AT FL250. ACFT #2 WAS NWBOUND CLBING TO FL280. ACFT #2'S SLOW RATE OF CLT NOT RECOGNIZED IN TIME TO PROVIDE SEPARATION. ACFT #1 WAS TURNED 20 DEGS R. TURN WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO PROVIDE LATERAL SEPARATION.
