Narrative:

Approximately 7 mi from msp airport, approach cleared us for the visual runway 12L to switch to tower at a 5 mi final. Nearing the FAF at approximately 5 mi, we went to drop the gear and nothing happened. We immediately went to the QRH and started troubleshooting as fast as we could. We were both inside the cockpit and consumed with the situation. Because we were coming at a 45 degree angle to the final (runway 12L from the north) we lost situational awareness, overflew runway 12L final and started to drift into runway 12R final approach path. When we looked up and realized what we did, we switched over to tower (runway 12L) immediately and they told us to maintain 3000 ft (which we were at) and head south (180 degrees) due to A320 traffic behind and below us on runway 12R. There was an RA or TA that occurred. Simply, task overload, close to airport resulting in loss of situational awareness. We contacted tower on the ground. A circuit breaker was fond to be the problem and no emergency resulted.

Title: THE CREW OF A SAAB 340 WITH THE LNDG GEAR CIRCUIT BREAKER POPPED OVERSHOT THEIR ASSIGNED RWY WHILE TROUBLESHOOTING.

Narrative: APPROX 7 MI FROM MSP ARPT, APCH CLRED US FOR THE VISUAL RWY 12L TO SWITCH TO TWR AT A 5 MI FINAL. NEARING THE FAF AT APPROX 5 MI, WE WENT TO DROP THE GEAR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. WE IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE QRH AND STARTED TROUBLESHOOTING AS FAST AS WE COULD. WE WERE BOTH INSIDE THE COCKPIT AND CONSUMED WITH THE SIT. BECAUSE WE WERE COMING AT A 45 DEG ANGLE TO THE FINAL (RWY 12L FROM THE N) WE LOST SITUATIONAL AWARENESS, OVERFLEW RWY 12L FINAL AND STARTED TO DRIFT INTO RWY 12R FINAL APCH PATH. WHEN WE LOOKED UP AND REALIZED WHAT WE DID, WE SWITCHED OVER TO TWR (RWY 12L) IMMEDIATELY AND THEY TOLD US TO MAINTAIN 3000 FT (WHICH WE WERE AT) AND HEAD S (180 DEGS) DUE TO A320 TFC BEHIND AND BELOW US ON RWY 12R. THERE WAS AN RA OR TA THAT OCCURRED. SIMPLY, TASK OVERLOAD, CLOSE TO ARPT RESULTING IN LOSS OF SITUATIONAL AWARENESS. WE CONTACTED TWR ON THE GND. A CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS FOND TO BE THE PROB AND NO EMER RESULTED.
