Narrative:
Iah approach control cleared air carrier X for the ILS runway 27. During the approach check, the crew noticed that the course interception was not aligned with the FMS runway as back-up. Additionally, the ILS idented both on the pdi and aurally were not for the ILS runway 27. The approach was continued on LNAV and the approach controller was asked about the problem. While we continued the approach, and broke out of the overcast and saw the runway, we continued the FMS approach and was informed by iah approach control that the ILS runway 27 was not turned on. Evidently, it was still set up for approachs earlier in the evening for runway 9. It was still set on that runway during air carrier X vectors to runway 27. The ATIS previously to air carrier X arrival was for runway 9. There seems to have been a breakdown in the coordination between iah tower and approach control on the active and current runway at iah.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B767 ON APCH TO RWY 27 AT IAH DISCOVERED ILS WAS ALIGNED WITH WRONG RWY.
Narrative: IAH APCH CTL CLRED ACR X FOR THE ILS RWY 27. DURING THE APCH CHK, THE CREW NOTICED THAT THE COURSE INTERCEPTION WAS NOT ALIGNED WITH THE FMS RWY AS BACK-UP. ADDITIONALLY, THE ILS IDENTED BOTH ON THE PDI AND AURALLY WERE NOT FOR THE ILS RWY 27. THE APCH WAS CONTINUED ON LNAV AND THE APCH CTLR WAS ASKED ABOUT THE PROB. WHILE WE CONTINUED THE APCH, AND BROKE OUT OF THE OVCST AND SAW THE RWY, WE CONTINUED THE FMS APCH AND WAS INFORMED BY IAH APCH CTL THAT THE ILS RWY 27 WAS NOT TURNED ON. EVIDENTLY, IT WAS STILL SET UP FOR APCHS EARLIER IN THE EVENING FOR RWY 9. IT WAS STILL SET ON THAT RWY DURING ACR X VECTORS TO RWY 27. THE ATIS PREVIOUSLY TO ACR X ARR WAS FOR RWY 9. THERE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A BREAKDOWN IN THE COORD BTWN IAH TWR AND APCH CTL ON THE ACTIVE AND CURRENT RWY AT IAH.
