Narrative:
At cruise, flight attendant advised cockpit that 2 passenger had been talking about bombs and another passenger had overheard the conversation. The boys, 2 hispanic teenagers, had made several comments. I advised dispatch and soc of the names and seat numbers and in consensus with flight attendants made the decision that it was most likely teenagers shooting their mouths off. Soc and dispatch ran names in database and pretty much decided the crew had made the right decision. The 2 passenger were warned about the seriousness of their comments by the #1 flight attendants. 2 deadheading flight attendants were reseated to observe the two and subsequently the two fell asleep. Security in los angeles to include fbi terrorism task force members and lapd met the flight and escorted them off the aircraft upon arrival. Their initial assessment was much the same as mine -- that it was a case of teenagers shooting off their mouths. They were still interviewing the two as I departed aircraft to operations. Their mother who was also on the aircraft but in a different row was in tears. All flight attendants submitted disturbance reports and were interviewed and the passenger who overheard the comments was interviewed by auths.
