Narrative:
Overshot runway 26 at ZZZ. Turned on base to final approach 1500 ft from the end of the runway at 350 ft of altitude. Mistook cable release knob for the spoilers handle. Slipped the aircraft down to 50 ft and touched down at the end of the runway, approximately 30 ft from the end. The aircraft rolled through the grass area of the approach zone and ground looped in the area beyond the field access road. The field has 8400 ft of paved runway. I should have used more of it.
