Narrative:
This will be the first of many reports to bring attention to a problem we are having without ASOS WX reporting equipment. The problem is in the dissemination of the information. 3 ucr's have now been filed. One in mar/04 and two yesterday, jan/thu/05. The ASOS would transmit the correct WX sequence but then would X mit old WX sequences. Some of these were more than 1 hour 30 mins old. This information eventually gets transmitted to our system (atlanta) information display system or saids. Our saids display is configured to displays WX from many locations (abi, dal, dfw, hou, elp, abq, aus, etc). All these were displaying old WX information. During this time, maf was being shown as VFR while we were actually IFR. I understand this was a very widespread problem. The second problem we have occur on a daily basis is that the WX gets to us at manifest very late. The normal hourly WX transmits at 53 mins after the hour -- so XA53Z for the XB00 hour. This is received usually before the hour, but when we get it late, it arrives between XB05Z-XB40Z or later. This can occur at any time of the day. These times are just for an example.

Narrative: THIS WILL BE THE FIRST OF MANY RPTS TO BRING ATTN TO A PROB WE ARE HAVING WITHOUT ASOS WX RPTING EQUIP. THE PROB IS IN THE DISSEMINATION OF THE INFO. 3 UCR'S HAVE NOW BEEN FILED. ONE IN MAR/04 AND TWO YESTERDAY, JAN/THU/05. THE ASOS WOULD XMIT THE CORRECT WX SEQUENCE BUT THEN WOULD X MIT OLD WX SEQUENCES. SOME OF THESE WERE MORE THAN 1 HR 30 MINS OLD. THIS INFO EVENTUALLY GETS XMITTED TO OUR SYS (ATLANTA) INFO DISPLAY SYS OR SAIDS. OUR SAIDS DISPLAY IS CONFIGURED TO DISPLAYS WX FROM MANY LOCATIONS (ABI, DAL, DFW, HOU, ELP, ABQ, AUS, ETC). ALL THESE WERE DISPLAYING OLD WX INFO. DURING THIS TIME, MAF WAS BEING SHOWN AS VFR WHILE WE WERE ACTUALLY IFR. I UNDERSTAND THIS WAS A VERY WIDESPREAD PROB. THE SECOND PROB WE HAVE OCCUR ON A DAILY BASIS IS THAT THE WX GETS TO US AT MANIFEST VERY LATE. THE NORMAL HRLY WX XMITS AT 53 MINS AFTER THE HR -- SO XA53Z FOR THE XB00 HR. THIS IS RECEIVED USUALLY BEFORE THE HR, BUT WHEN WE GET IT LATE, IT ARRIVES BTWN XB05Z-XB40Z OR LATER. THIS CAN OCCUR AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY. THESE TIMES ARE JUST FOR AN EXAMPLE.
