Narrative:
The student and I were on a part 141 flight training flight out of the dubuque; ia; airport. Tower cleared us to land #2 behind an apache. The student entered a wide left base to follow the traffic. After turning behind the traffic we were following; the student put the gear handle in the down position after completing the pre landing checklist. We came in for a landing to runway 36; no flaps; throttles at idle and impacted the ground. We secured the airplane when it came to a rest; advised tower of the problem; and departed the airplane for safety. What happened/result: landed gear up. Didn't check to verify gear had come down. What could have been done: 'gumpps' (gear; undercarriage; mixtures; propellers; pumps; and switches) check. Should have been done on shorts final to verify gear was down and locked and 3 green (which was not done).
