Narrative:
A DC9-30 departed on the prescribed departure procedure. During the climb out of FL200 the right engine oil temperature went rapidly to red line with the oil quantity gauge rapidly falling. Started at 15 quarts and by shutdown the gauge was showing 5 quarts with oil psi dropping below 40 psi; with a subsequent low oil light illuminating. I was the PF (first officer) and the captain was on his third trip out of IOE. I continued to fly the aircraft while the captain ran the emergency checklists; communication procedures; talked to dispatch; company; flight attendants and passenger. We declared an emergency and asked for the rescue trucks to stand by the runway. Center gave us priority handling with a right turn direct to ZZZ and a restart. As we turned off the runway; we stopped to have the crash fire rescue equipment check the right engine for smoke or fire and if it looked ok. Everything was ok and they followed us to our gate. At the gate; postflt inspection by our company mechanics reported the leak was caused by an internal failure of a rear bearing blowing all the oil out of the tail pipe. This failure possibly could have been avoided. The company mechanics advised us that all our overhauls and heavy maintenance is being done by 6 different vendors outside contract maintenance with a lot done in foreign countries. They (the company mechanics) said they are seeing more maintenance problems lately.

Title: DC9-30 AT FL200 DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE TO R ENG LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE AND QUANTITY. CAUSED BY REAR TURBINE BEARING FAILURE.
Narrative: A DC9-30 DEPARTED ON THE PRESCRIBED DEP PROC. DURING THE CLBOUT OF FL200 THE R ENG OIL TEMP WENT RAPIDLY TO RED LINE WITH THE OIL QUANTITY GAUGE RAPIDLY FALLING. STARTED AT 15 QUARTS AND BY SHUTDOWN THE GAUGE WAS SHOWING 5 QUARTS WITH OIL PSI DROPPING BELOW 40 PSI; WITH A SUBSEQUENT LOW OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATING. I WAS THE PF (FO) AND THE CAPT WAS ON HIS THIRD TRIP OUT OF IOE. I CONTINUED TO FLY THE ACFT WHILE THE CAPT RAN THE EMER CHKLISTS; COM PROCS; TALKED TO DISPATCH; COMPANY; FLT ATTENDANTS AND PAX. WE DECLARED AN EMER AND ASKED FOR THE RESCUE TRUCKS TO STAND BY THE RWY. CTR GAVE US PRIORITY HANDLING WITH A R TURN DIRECT TO ZZZ AND A RESTART. AS WE TURNED OFF THE RWY; WE STOPPED TO HAVE THE CFR CHK THE R ENG FOR SMOKE OR FIRE AND IF IT LOOKED OK. EVERYTHING WAS OK AND THEY FOLLOWED US TO OUR GATE. AT THE GATE; POSTFLT INSPECTION BY OUR COMPANY MECHS RPTED THE LEAK WAS CAUSED BY AN INTERNAL FAILURE OF A REAR BEARING BLOWING ALL THE OIL OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE. THIS FAILURE POSSIBLY COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. THE COMPANY MECHS ADVISED US THAT ALL OUR OVERHAULS AND HVY MAINT IS BEING DONE BY 6 DIFFERENT VENDORS OUTSIDE CONTRACT MAINT WITH A LOT DONE IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES. THEY (THE COMPANY MECHS) SAID THEY ARE SEEING MORE MAINT PROBS LATELY.
