Narrative:
Mar/tue/05; afternoon; I flew C150 to farm. Took several pictures of plantings from air before landing. Took off just after dark; circled field several times before heading southeast; to home field. Talked to unicom; was on 3 mi final runway 16. A few seconds later; engine sputtered and quit. I lifted each wing several times and engine restarted; but quit again; less than 2 mi from touchdown. I turned back using landing and taxi lights to look for obstacles. Landed with the wind on downhill slope at touchdown. After some rollout; I came to an upslope which assisted in braking to slow aircraft. Maneuvered between trees and corner of parking lot; making a hard left turn to south and coming to stop. No damage to plane; pilot or property. I had run out of fuel. I had plenty of fuel for round trip (120 mi) with reserves; but didnT figure in the extra time for photos I took (80-90) or the headwind. I consumed more fuel than I had originally figured in haste to return home.
