Narrative:
Aircraft had a maintenance deferral for left main fuel gauge inoperative. Fuel summation unit was disabled per MEL. This caused a 'buffet alert' message to come up on the FMC on takeoff as soon as we were airborne. We had this aircraft for 2 legs ZZZ-ZZZ1 flight zzbc and ZZZ1-ZZZ2 flight dee and this FMC message came up on both takeoffs. This is an unsafe condition caused by the maintenance deferral procedure of disabling the fuel summation unit.

Title: A B737-300 CAPT RPTS AFTER DEFERRAL OF L TANK FUEL QUANTITY AND FUEL SUMMATION PER THE MEL WHEN AIRBORNE RECEIVED 'BUFFET ALERT.'
Narrative: ACFT HAD A MAINT DEFERRAL FOR L MAIN FUEL GAUGE INOP. FUEL SUMMATION UNIT WAS DISABLED PER MEL. THIS CAUSED A 'BUFFET ALERT' MESSAGE TO COME UP ON THE FMC ON TKOF AS SOON AS WE WERE AIRBORNE. WE HAD THIS ACFT FOR 2 LEGS ZZZ-ZZZ1 FLT ZZBC AND ZZZ1-ZZZ2 FLT DEE AND THIS FMC MESSAGE CAME UP ON BOTH TKOFS. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION CAUSED BY THE MAINT DEFERRAL PROC OF DISABLING THE FUEL SUMMATION UNIT.
