Narrative:
After landing on runway 4R and clearing the runway at intersection K; we contacted ground control for taxi clearance to gate. Ground controller cleared us to gate via taxiway a then taxiway D. While taxiing west on taxiway a; I observed a grouping of ground signs that indicated to me that the upcoming taxiway was taxiway D and made my right turn onto what I thought was taxiway D. I had in fact turned onto taxiway south; then proceeded to gate to park. An aircraft pushing back from another gate was required to slow its pushback to avoid conflict. ATC ground controller called it to our attention that we had turned off on the wrong taxiway. Confusing me to turn onto taxiway south was a cluster of taxiway signage; one of which was a sign 'D.' taxiway D was in fact the next taxiway west. These multiple sign clusters are a source of confusion on an airport that I know very well.

Title: FLT CREW OF B767-300 MISIDENT TXWY S AS TXWY D AT HNL. MINOR CONFLICT WITH ACFT PUSHING BACK FROM GATE ENSUES.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 4R AND CLRING THE RWY AT INTXN K; WE CONTACTED GND CTL FOR TAXI CLRNC TO GATE. GND CTLR CLRED US TO GATE VIA TXWY A THEN TXWY D. WHILE TAXIING W ON TXWY A; I OBSERVED A GROUPING OF GND SIGNS THAT INDICATED TO ME THAT THE UPCOMING TXWY WAS TXWY D AND MADE MY R TURN ONTO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS TXWY D. I HAD IN FACT TURNED ONTO TXWY S; THEN PROCEEDED TO GATE TO PARK. AN ACFT PUSHING BACK FROM ANOTHER GATE WAS REQUIRED TO SLOW ITS PUSHBACK TO AVOID CONFLICT. ATC GND CTLR CALLED IT TO OUR ATTN THAT WE HAD TURNED OFF ON THE WRONG TXWY. CONFUSING ME TO TURN ONTO TXWY S WAS A CLUSTER OF TXWY SIGNAGE; ONE OF WHICH WAS A SIGN 'D.' TXWY D WAS IN FACT THE NEXT TXWY W. THESE MULTIPLE SIGN CLUSTERS ARE A SOURCE OF CONFUSION ON AN ARPT THAT I KNOW VERY WELL.
