Narrative:

Late this afternoon; I requested a part from the hangar; and had a clerk check the part location. When he located the part; I had him send it to me at the terminal. I issued the part to a mechanic without looking at the 'cctag' [svcable parts tag]. I normally look to ensure that the part is svcable; and the part wasn't inspected. It was brought to my attention by maintenance when the mechanic was filling out his work package for records. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter works as an inventory control coordinator and ordered and issued the part to the installing technician without checking the svcable parts tag. Nobody really checked the tag to determine if the part was svcable until the job was completed and the paperwork was entered into the maintenance computer. The aircraft was an embraer 140 and was dispatched before the unsvcable part could be removed.

Title: AN EMB140 WAS DISPATCHED WITH AN UNSVCABLE AUTOFLT DIGITAL AUGMENTATION UNIT INSTALLED. DISCOVERED BY THE INSTALLING TECHNICIAN WHEN COMPLETING PAPERWORK.

Narrative: LATE THIS AFTERNOON; I REQUESTED A PART FROM THE HANGAR; AND HAD A CLERK CHK THE PART LOCATION. WHEN HE LOCATED THE PART; I HAD HIM SEND IT TO ME AT THE TERMINAL. I ISSUED THE PART TO A MECH WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE 'CCTAG' [SVCABLE PARTS TAG]. I NORMALLY LOOK TO ENSURE THAT THE PART IS SVCABLE; AND THE PART WASN'T INSPECTED. IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTN BY MAINT WHEN THE MECH WAS FILLING OUT HIS WORK PACKAGE FOR RECORDS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR WORKS AS AN INVENTORY CTL COORDINATOR AND ORDERED AND ISSUED THE PART TO THE INSTALLING TECHNICIAN WITHOUT CHKING THE SVCABLE PARTS TAG. NOBODY REALLY CHKED THE TAG TO DETERMINE IF THE PART WAS SVCABLE UNTIL THE JOB WAS COMPLETED AND THE PAPERWORK WAS ENTERED INTO THE MAINT COMPUTER. THE ACFT WAS AN EMBRAER 140 AND WAS DISPATCHED BEFORE THE UNSVCABLE PART COULD BE REMOVED.
