Narrative:
While conducting a transition captain's operating experience; we experienced a #1 engine compressor stall at approximately 75 KTS. The operating experience captain handled the abort fantastic. We then exited runway 1R and finished ECAM and taxied back to gate. I went outside and talked to mechanics there. They told me that the plane had just come from hangar with a related write-up of the compressor vane. They told me that they wanted to do an engine runup; but were overruled by a higher authority/authorized. This really troubles me. I think that decision was unsafe for me; my crew; and our passenger.
