Narrative:
APU was deferred. After starting #2 engine at the gate; went ahead and attempted to start #1 engine. We got a hung start. We pushed back and started the #1 engine using xbleed start procedure. It was a successful start; but once we reset fadec/alternate; the #1 engine shut down with an EICAS message; 'E1 engine out.' we taxied back to the gate and contacted dispatch/moc.
