Narrative:
We received final weight from load planning prior to taxi. As we approached runway; tower inquired whether we will be ready for takeoff. We affirmed the takeoff; and as he was giving us taxi to hold instruction; first officer noticed flashing ACARS message. Normally; we will not query the ACARS message at this point; but he did. It turned out the message was from load planning stating the final weight was no good. We canceled the position and hold clearance and waited for final weight. This is a bad situation as we could have been airborne before receiving the load planning message had it not been the tug delay and first officer quick action. Bottom line is load planning should never send us the final weight if he didn't get the final bag counts from oak ramp. This load planning problem needs to be fixed now.
