Narrative:
On climb out; got an adr #1 fault; autoplt off; autothrottle off; GPWS system inoperative; autoflt yaw damper system; autoflt rudder trim system; flight control alternate law (prot lost) ecams. First officer was flying and continued flying manually. I did ECAM procedures including; turn off adr #1 switch captain air data to captain 3. Reset facility 1+2; GPWS system switch off. None of the ECAM actions improved the flight status of the aircraft. Contacted dispatch and maintenance. Coordination with maintenance to remedy situation but no help. Coordination with dispatch and determined return was best course due to WX at ZZZ1. First officer coordination return with ATC and declared emergency. I reviewed the ECAM steps and the landing in direct law checklist and determined approach speeds. We had purser come to cockpit and coordination a cabin advisory with him. He returned to cabin and informed the rest of the crew. I then informed passenger on the situation and plans. We then xferred aircraft control and first officer reviewed the ECAM and the checklists. We requested runway 34L and flew a raw data ILS and landed uneventfully. Taxied to the gate and debriefed maintenance. WX on departure was widespread rain showers. Continuous light chop with occasional moderate. We also had intermittent st elmo's fire. Supplemental information from acn 659725: maintaining airspeed; altitude and course became challenging in IMC with light to occasional moderate chop. The aircraft was in alternate law with no flight director or vsi and required manual trimming.
