Narrative:
Holding in position runway 27; saw WX prevented north turn; notified tower prior to takeoff clearance we intended straight out. Tower acknowledged. Cleared for takeoff; told to contact departure and advise them of straight out. Departure busy; unable call till through 2000 ft MSL. During this time; saw traffic (opposite direction; straight ahead; descending) on TCASII. We visually acquired traffic while calling to departure; told them traffic in sight. Got TA; then RA to descend. Captain complied; kept traffic in sight at all times. Airspeed went well above 250 KTS while flying RA directive. Slight deviation above new clearance altitude of 6000 ft after flying RA maneuver. Autoplt re-engaged; rest of flight uneventful. Cause? ATC: failure of tower and departure to communicate. Without TCASII and self monitoring; this could have been serious!

Title: B737 ON DEP FROM TLH EXPERIENCED TCASII RA WITH ACFT ON DEP CTL ON OPPOSITE DIRECTION TRACK.
Narrative: HOLDING IN POS RWY 27; SAW WX PREVENTED N TURN; NOTIFIED TWR PRIOR TO TKOF CLRNC WE INTENDED STRAIGHT OUT. TWR ACKNOWLEDGED. CLRED FOR TKOF; TOLD TO CONTACT DEP AND ADVISE THEM OF STRAIGHT OUT. DEP BUSY; UNABLE CALL TILL THROUGH 2000 FT MSL. DURING THIS TIME; SAW TFC (OPPOSITE DIRECTION; STRAIGHT AHEAD; DSNDING) ON TCASII. WE VISUALLY ACQUIRED TFC WHILE CALLING TO DEP; TOLD THEM TFC IN SIGHT. GOT TA; THEN RA TO DSND. CAPT COMPLIED; KEPT TFC IN SIGHT AT ALL TIMES. AIRSPD WENT WELL ABOVE 250 KTS WHILE FLYING RA DIRECTIVE. SLIGHT DEV ABOVE NEW CLRNC ALT OF 6000 FT AFTER FLYING RA MANEUVER. AUTOPLT RE-ENGAGED; REST OF FLT UNEVENTFUL. CAUSE? ATC: FAILURE OF TWR AND DEP TO COMMUNICATE. WITHOUT TCASII AND SELF MONITORING; THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS!
