Narrative:
Climbed an aircraft into another aircraft without ensuring vertical separation. The contributing factor was having the aircraft on top increase speed. Then having the lower aircraft not exceed 250 KTS. This decreased the climb rate of one and increased the climb rate of the other. Standard separation was lost.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PCT CTLR; PROVIDING OJT; EXPERIENCED OPERROR AT APPROX 11400 FT WITH 2 CLBING ACFT.
Narrative: CLBED AN ACFT INTO ANOTHER ACFT WITHOUT ENSURING VERT SEPARATION. THE CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS HAVING THE ACFT ON TOP INCREASE SPD. THEN HAVING THE LOWER ACFT NOT EXCEED 250 KTS. THIS DECREASED THE CLB RATE OF ONE AND INCREASED THE CLB RATE OF THE OTHER. STANDARD SEPARATION WAS LOST.
