Narrative:

En route ZZZ to ZZZ2 the ground spoiler automatic actuation system light illuminated. Checklist was accomplished and light remained on. Uneventful landing. The problem arose when maintenance control deferred the system and dispatched the aircraft for the next leg. After takeoff; questions arose and I pulled the MEL for further review. Upon review; I pointed out the note that would make dispatch of a 62 series DC8 unallowable. After landing; maintenance control was called on this point. They replied that further training in this area was needed. Problem arose from the majority of our aircraft being able to dispatch in the confign and maintenance not reading the note. Also my trusting maintenance to make the right call.
