Narrative:
Just after rotation for the musel 6 departure out of sna; which is part of the labor and concentration intensive noise abatement departure procedures out of there; we were told by the tower controller; 'air carrier X; we just received a flow control time of :15 for you to chicago; we need you to come back and land. Contact departure.' needless to say; this caused some confusion in the cockpit in the midst of a maximum performance; flaps 20 degree bleeds off noise abatement takeoff. We contacted departure and received only standard departure instructions for our climb out. Perhaps the call was in error for another plane. Regardless; for tower to contact us at that moment for a flow after we had already departed was ridiculous. The timing was extremely unsafe and unprofessional. As soon as we were at cruise; we contacted dispatch and asked them to investigate. We were contacted and told that they would review the tapes.

Title: B757 DEP FROM SNA RECEIVED ATC INSTRUCTION IMMEDIATELY AFTER TKOF TO RETURN LAND DUE TO FLOW CTL.
Narrative: JUST AFTER ROTATION FOR THE MUSEL 6 DEP OUT OF SNA; WHICH IS PART OF THE LABOR AND CONCENTRATION INTENSIVE NOISE ABATEMENT DEP PROCS OUT OF THERE; WE WERE TOLD BY THE TWR CTLR; 'ACR X; WE JUST RECEIVED A FLOW CTL TIME OF :15 FOR YOU TO CHICAGO; WE NEED YOU TO COME BACK AND LAND. CONTACT DEP.' NEEDLESS TO SAY; THIS CAUSED SOME CONFUSION IN THE COCKPIT IN THE MIDST OF A MAX PERFORMANCE; FLAPS 20 DEG BLEEDS OFF NOISE ABATEMENT TKOF. WE CONTACTED DEP AND RECEIVED ONLY STANDARD DEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR OUR CLBOUT. PERHAPS THE CALL WAS IN ERROR FOR ANOTHER PLANE. REGARDLESS; FOR TWR TO CONTACT US AT THAT MOMENT FOR A FLOW AFTER WE HAD ALREADY DEPARTED WAS RIDICULOUS. THE TIMING WAS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. AS SOON AS WE WERE AT CRUISE; WE CONTACTED DISPATCH AND ASKED THEM TO INVESTIGATE. WE WERE CONTACTED AND TOLD THAT THEY WOULD REVIEW THE TAPES.
