Narrative:
Changed garlock seal on APU with maintenance manual revision 6 on disk. Realized that there was an engineering notice instructing not to use maintenance manual revision 6 on disk. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the APU was replaced using the manufacturer's component maintenance manual. Later advised that engineering wanted the seal replaced with the aircraft maintenance manual chapter 49 used as reference as it has the latest revisions.

Title: AN EMB140 APU GARLOCK OIL SEAL WAS REPLACED USING THE COMPONENT MAINT MANUAL AS REF. LATER FOUND ACFT MAINT MANUAL WAS TO BE USED PER ENGINEERING REVISION.
Narrative: CHANGED GARLOCK SEAL ON APU WITH MAINT MANUAL REVISION 6 ON DISK. REALIZED THAT THERE WAS AN ENGINEERING NOTICE INSTRUCTING NOT TO USE MAINT MANUAL REVISION 6 ON DISK. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE APU WAS REPLACED USING THE MANUFACTURER'S COMPONENT MAINT MANUAL. LATER ADVISED THAT ENGINEERING WANTED THE SEAL REPLACED WITH THE ACFT MAINT MANUAL CHAPTER 49 USED AS REF AS IT HAS THE LATEST REVISIONS.
