Narrative:
Had a maintenance base visit with a successful 60/60 [overwater inspection -- 60 mins to suitable airport]. It then had a pylon modification where both engines were dropped and reinstalled; requiring a new 60/60. I told my quality assurance supervisor it needed it for the logbook. Supervisor said he verified this with flight operations engineering. Said quality assurance supervisor stated he called maintenance operations director and was told no (presumably for the ferry spotting message) even after told that both engines had been taken off and the 60/60 was required. Sent e-mail to quality assurance manager; calling quality assurance manager -- said quality assurance supervisor; and flight operations engineering manager. Maintenance operations director does not want to have 60/60 accomplished; reasons for this unknown.

Narrative: HAD A MAINT BASE VISIT WITH A SUCCESSFUL 60/60 [OVERWATER INSPECTION -- 60 MINS TO SUITABLE ARPT]. IT THEN HAD A PYLON MODIFICATION WHERE BOTH ENGS WERE DROPPED AND REINSTALLED; REQUIRING A NEW 60/60. I TOLD MY QUALITY ASSURANCE SUPVR IT NEEDED IT FOR THE LOGBOOK. SUPVR SAID HE VERIFIED THIS WITH FLT OPS ENGINEERING. SAID QUALITY ASSURANCE SUPVR STATED HE CALLED MAINT OPS DIRECTOR AND WAS TOLD NO (PRESUMABLY FOR THE FERRY SPOTTING MESSAGE) EVEN AFTER TOLD THAT BOTH ENGS HAD BEEN TAKEN OFF AND THE 60/60 WAS REQUIRED. SENT E-MAIL TO QUALITY ASSURANCE MGR; CALLING QUALITY ASSURANCE MGR -- SAID QUALITY ASSURANCE SUPVR; AND FLT OPS ENGINEERING MGR.
