Narrative:
Due to construction at jfk airport; the controllers in the jfk area at the new york TRACON were ordered by management to work a nonstandard procedure. The runway confign was; land runway 4R and to depart runway 31L. The controllers have had no formal training on this airspace and the procedures associated with this runway confign. I made a specific request for a written description of my airspace and was told that it would not be provided. Historically due to the complexity of this confign; this operation was used only on a shift with 1 controller owning all of the airspace and only under light traffic conditions. The situation that makes this set-up unsafe; is that all of the arrs' and departures' flight paths will cross at some point. During my shift; numerous aircraft did not fly the departure SID correctly. Some of the aircraft turned wide off of runway 31L; others turned early and to the left directly towards the arriving aircraft landing on runway 4R. The scariest and most dangerous deviation occurred when a heavy airbus turned left off of runway 31L towards the runway 4R arrs. The aircraft had to be given an immediate turn and climb back to the right. It is my understanding that none of the pltdevs were investigated. I do not understand why I was not given a proper briefing along with my co-workers on what airspace and procedures were being utilized on this runway confign.

THE SCARIEST AND MOST DANGEROUS DEV OCCURRED WHEN A HVY AIRBUS TURNED L OFF OF RWY 31L TOWARDS THE RWY 4R ARRS. THE ACFT HAD TO BE GIVEN AN IMMEDIATE TURN AND CLB BACK TO THE R. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT NONE OF THE PLTDEVS WERE INVESTIGATED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY I WAS NOT GIVEN A PROPER BRIEFING ALONG WITH MY CO-WORKERS ON WHAT AIRSPACE AND PROCS WERE BEING UTILIZED ON THIS RWY CONFIGN.
