Narrative:

The new phone system is causing serious safety and security problems. The outside FAA phone line is accessible to anyone walking by the front gate. Also; long distance and local phone is available at this front gate phone. The ags controllers were made aware of this when one of the controllers heard the phone ringing as he entered the gate code into the keypad. This is a serious problem since this phone call was range control activating the restricted airspace. This front gate can be approached by anyone who walks up to it!! Secondly; the phones ring at all locations and the controllers are required to answer calls/screen visitors while working position. One controller took it upon themself to move the cordless phone and charger next to the printer (radar room); which causes further distractions and disruptions in the operating quarters. Management doesn't want the controllers to make cell phone calles; but has us field useless phone calls that come into the facility. On one occasion; the secretary did take a phone call. She took it upon herself and activated the restricted airspace without consulting the controllers first.

Title: AGS CTLR EXPRESSES CONCERN REGARDING THE USE OF A FAC ENTRY PHONE SYSTEM AND FAC PHONE POLICIES.

Narrative: THE NEW PHONE SYSTEM IS CAUSING SERIOUS SAFETY AND SECURITY PROBS. THE OUTSIDE FAA PHONE LINE IS ACCESSIBLE TO ANYONE WALKING BY THE FRONT GATE. ALSO; LONG DISTANCE AND LOCAL PHONE IS AVAILABLE AT THIS FRONT GATE PHONE. THE AGS CTLRS WERE MADE AWARE OF THIS WHEN ONE OF THE CTLRS HEARD THE PHONE RINGING AS HE ENTERED THE GATE CODE INTO THE KEYPAD. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROB SINCE THIS PHONE CALL WAS RANGE CTL ACTIVATING THE RESTRICTED AIRSPACE. THIS FRONT GATE CAN BE APCHED BY ANYONE WHO WALKS UP TO IT!! SECONDLY; THE PHONES RING AT ALL LOCATIONS AND THE CTLRS ARE REQUIRED TO ANSWER CALLS/SCREEN VISITORS WHILE WORKING POSITION. ONE CTLR TOOK IT UPON THEMSELF TO MOVE THE CORDLESS PHONE AND CHARGER NEXT TO THE PRINTER (RADAR ROOM); WHICH CAUSES FURTHER DISTRACTIONS AND DISRUPTIONS IN THE OPERATING QUARTERS. MANAGEMENT DOESN'T WANT THE CTLRS TO MAKE CELL PHONE CALLES; BUT HAS US FIELD USELESS PHONE CALLS THAT COME INTO THE FACILITY. ON ONE OCCASION; THE SECRETARY DID TAKE A PHONE CALL. SHE TOOK IT UPON HERSELF AND ACTIVATED THE RESTRICTED AIRSPACE WITHOUT CONSULTING THE CTLRS FIRST.
