Narrative:

Departed runway 24 at teb on the teb 5 departure. Departure is to climb runway heading to 1500 ft and then turn to a heading of 280 degrees. Once reaching 4.5 DME off teb a climb should be made to 2000 ft. Upon reaching 1500 ft I failed to turn to a 280 degree heading. ATC called us and asked our heading. We replied 240 degrees and started an immediate turn to 280 degrees. We were IMC at the time in light to moderate turbulence. Supplemental information from acn 673230: we also noted an area of scattered embedded thunderstorms in a line of precipitation on ground based wsi. Reviewed the teb 5 departure for runway 24 with the PF and confirmed 1500 ft set in the altitude alert.
