Narrative:
Shortly after takeoff; I received a call from captain stating to remain seated and that there were problems with the flight controls. I asked if we should prepare the cabin. The captain advised no cabin preparation and 'things were under control.' I called the crew and advised them to know where their emergency cards were located. The captain informed passenger of unusual drag on the wings of the aircraft and that the flight would deviate to ZZZ for safety reasons. Shortly after; the captain informed the passenger that we were in line to land at ZZZ. Flight landed safely. A passenger; with their window shade up throughout the flight; informed me that there was a 4 ft cable coming from the back of the right wing. Most of the passenger were on their cell phones calling who knows who after the landing and after the cable was in sight. Called the captain and informed her what a passenger in perfect view of the right wing had seen. We arrived at the gate and were met by management and mechanics.

Title: CABIN ATTENDANT ADVISES B737 DIVERTED TO ZZZ DUE TO A FLT CTL PROB. PAX NOTES CABLE TRAILING AFT OF R WING.
Narrative: SHORTLY AFTER TKOF; I RECEIVED A CALL FROM CAPT STATING TO REMAIN SEATED AND THAT THERE WERE PROBS WITH THE FLT CTLS. I ASKED IF WE SHOULD PREPARE THE CABIN. THE CAPT ADVISED NO CABIN PREPARATION AND 'THINGS WERE UNDER CTL.' I CALLED THE CREW AND ADVISED THEM TO KNOW WHERE THEIR EMER CARDS WERE LOCATED. THE CAPT INFORMED PAX OF UNUSUAL DRAG ON THE WINGS OF THE ACFT AND THAT THE FLT WOULD DEVIATE TO ZZZ FOR SAFETY REASONS. SHORTLY AFTER; THE CAPT INFORMED THE PAX THAT WE WERE IN LINE TO LAND AT ZZZ. FLT LANDED SAFELY. A PAX; WITH THEIR WINDOW SHADE UP THROUGHOUT THE FLT; INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A 4 FT CABLE COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE R WING. MOST OF THE PAX WERE ON THEIR CELL PHONES CALLING WHO KNOWS WHO AFTER THE LNDG AND AFTER THE CABLE WAS IN SIGHT. CALLED THE CAPT AND INFORMED HER WHAT A PAX IN PERFECT VIEW OF THE R WING HAD SEEN. WE ARRIVED AT THE GATE AND WERE MET BY MGMNT AND MECHS.
