Narrative:

I was trying to get to linden; nj; from saratoga springs; ny. I was given an ATC clearance on the ground. When I was handed off to new york approach at coate intersection; I descended to 4000 ft on a heading of 190 degrees. After I reached 4000 ft; I was informed that I would not be able to do the approach in to ldj because it was marginal WX and was asked my intentions. I insisted that I needed to go to ldj. I was then told that I would have at least 1 hour holding and was told to turn right to a heading of 020 degrees. I was upset that I would have to hold for 1 hour and since turning left to a heading of 020 was quicker; I turned left. I was wrong to turn left. The reason I was given the hold was that I would be in conflict with the ewr traffic. I asked to be put in the line for ewr. At first; ATC refused; but eventually that is exactly what happened. The only WX was fog and haze over the east coast. I wanted to talk to the supervisor at new york approach on the telephone. I was given the phone number and tried to talk to the supervisor but all I got was that I had no rights to go to ldj as long as there was traffic going to ewr. I finally hung up on the supervisor because of his belligerent attitude. Someone should talk to him about little guys and our rights to fly.

Title: A PA31 PLT EXPRESSES ANGER AFTER BEING RESTR FROM A TIMELY APCH TO LDJ BECAUSE OF CONFLICTING EWR TFC.

Narrative: I WAS TRYING TO GET TO LINDEN; NJ; FROM SARATOGA SPRINGS; NY. I WAS GIVEN AN ATC CLRNC ON THE GND. WHEN I WAS HANDED OFF TO NEW YORK APCH AT COATE INTXN; I DSNDED TO 4000 FT ON A HDG OF 190 DEGS. AFTER I REACHED 4000 FT; I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THE APCH IN TO LDJ BECAUSE IT WAS MARGINAL WX AND WAS ASKED MY INTENTIONS. I INSISTED THAT I NEEDED TO GO TO LDJ. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE AT LEAST 1 HR HOLDING AND WAS TOLD TO TURN R TO A HDG OF 020 DEGS. I WAS UPSET THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HOLD FOR 1 HR AND SINCE TURNING L TO A HDG OF 020 WAS QUICKER; I TURNED L. I WAS WRONG TO TURN L. THE REASON I WAS GIVEN THE HOLD WAS THAT I WOULD BE IN CONFLICT WITH THE EWR TFC. I ASKED TO BE PUT IN THE LINE FOR EWR. AT FIRST; ATC REFUSED; BUT EVENTUALLY THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. THE ONLY WX WAS FOG AND HAZE OVER THE EAST COAST. I WANTED TO TALK TO THE SUPVR AT NEW YORK APCH ON THE TELEPHONE. I WAS GIVEN THE PHONE NUMBER AND TRIED TO TALK TO THE SUPVR BUT ALL I GOT WAS THAT I HAD NO RIGHTS TO GO TO LDJ AS LONG AS THERE WAS TFC GOING TO EWR. I FINALLY HUNG UP ON THE SUPVR BECAUSE OF HIS BELLIGERENT ATTITUDE. SOMEONE SHOULD TALK TO HIM ABOUT LITTLE GUYS AND OUR RIGHTS TO FLY.
