Narrative:
Galley unit was in shop for overhaul. I was assigned to install doors and tray racks. After removing mask paper and tape; oct/web/05 at XA45; floor mount did not look right. Checked and found mount bent and angled out on the flight deck side of the wall. Doubler in cart tray was pulled loose; and area around mount on wall was damaged. Also; trash compartment wall extrusion was badly pitted and corroded under trash door hinge. Notified lead technician and was told that next shift would not believe us unless they saw it themselves. The next shift lead technician was shown the damage. Notified inspection assigned to dock X that the unit was damaged. He then marked it in red on the mount. Unit was late because of the untimely assignment after inducted into shop. Inadequate time constraints and movement of shop equipment for new cell in that area during process.
