Narrative:
On ferra 2 departure after ferra we were going direct pnh instead of scabi; cds then pnh. The controller called it to our attention and we rejoined the departure. During programming of FMS from the flight plan direct pnh was entered after ferra when the plan really said 'ferra 2 pnh.' when checked against flight plan it did not register with me that scabi and cds were not there; as pnh was and each of the following waypoints were and the miles checked. I am used to seeing that not all points in box are on flight plan but of course this is the opposite situation and I did not catch it. There were two flight attendant calls at the same moment so there was some distraction.supplemental information from additional submission: on ferra 2 departure; after ferra we were going direct to pnh instead of 'scabi;' cds; pnh. The controller called it to our attention and we rejoined the departure. I do not recall being cleared direct pnh; but that was what was coming up in our FMS and we were following that via our 'navigation' function. During programming of FMS from our flight plan direct pnh could have been entered after ferra due to confusion reading the route; ie: FERRA2 pnh...not 'ferra pnh.' when checked the flight plan against the entry in box my first officer and I did not catch the error. I am very upset that this occurred to me as I never thought it would happen to me; but it did. The best action to prevent it from happening again is just greater diligence and following procedures.

Narrative: ON FERRA 2 DEP AFTER FERRA WE WERE GOING DIRECT PNH INSTEAD OF SCABI; CDS THEN PNH. THE CTLR CALLED IT TO OUR ATTENTION AND WE REJOINED THE DEP. DURING PROGRAMMING OF FMS FROM THE FLT PLAN DIRECT PNH WAS ENTERED AFTER FERRA WHEN THE PLAN REALLY SAID 'FERRA 2 PNH.' WHEN CHKED AGAINST FLT PLAN IT DID NOT REGISTER WITH ME THAT SCABI AND CDS WERE NOT THERE; AS PNH WAS AND EACH OF THE FOLLOWING WAYPOINTS WERE AND THE MILES CHKED. I AM USED TO SEEING THAT NOT ALL POINTS IN BOX ARE ON FLT PLAN BUT OF COURSE THIS IS THE OPPOSITE SITUATION AND I DID NOT CATCH IT. THE CTLR CALLED IT TO OUR ATTENTION AND WE REJOINED THE DEP. I DO NOT RECALL BEING CLRED DIRECT PNH; BUT THAT WAS WHAT WAS COMING UP IN OUR FMS AND WE WERE FOLLOWING THAT VIA OUR 'NAV' FUNCTION. DURING PROGRAMMING OF FMS FROM OUR FLT PLAN DIRECT PNH COULD HAVE BEEN ENTERED AFTER FERRA DUE TO CONFUSION READING THE RTE; IE: FERRA2 PNH...NOT 'FERRA PNH.' WHEN CHKED THE FLT PLAN AGAINST THE ENTRY IN BOX MY FO AND I DID NOT CATCH THE ERROR. I AM VERY UPSET THAT THIS OCCURRED TO ME AS I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD HAPPEN TO ME; BUT IT DID. THE BEST ACTION TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN IS JUST GREATER DILIGENCE AND FOLLOWING PROCS.
