Narrative:
I was notified at departure time #1 FMGC had failed. I was unable to reset the FMGC. I notified maintenance control that I required an FMGC. The part number that was given to me was the incorrect effectivity. The computer was installed and passed all bite and functional checks. I was notified of the incorrect effectivity while entering the logbook information into the company computer system. I notified maintenance control of the situation and the correct FMGC was moved to the next down line station. The aircraft flew 1 leg and the FMGC was replaced without incident.
