Narrative:
Unapproved adhesive utilized in laminate repairs. When a repair is not specifically idented in a service order manual for a galley; closet; lavatory; etc; the interior shop contacts engineering for direction. We routinely give our opinion or suggestion on how to do the repair and what materials to use. This normally is done via phone; shop visit; letter or e-mail. If the shop decides to accomplish the repair; they later tell the engineer what exactly they did; and if acceptable to the engineer; the engineer then proceeds at that time to put the repair in the manual. A copy of the manual revision is normally hand carried to the shop. The shop uses this to then release the part to the dock. A conversation; phone call; letter; or e-mail is not considered approval for any repair. All repairs must be in the service order manual.
