Narrative:

This is my 4TH landing in tapa in 2 months. Each has included a GPWS obstacle indication. This flight we tried flying a shallow descent 300-400 FPM and well left of the VOR approach (visual approach) to avoid the obstacle. It finally worked. There is a 592 ft MSL obstacle about 1.5 - 2.0 DME from the airport on runway centerline. This obstacle is not on any air carrier or commercial chart. The tower manager informed me that air carrier flts occasionally perform a missed approach when landing on runway 7. Many more report the obstacle warning but go ahead and land. I have been unable to reach the B767 fleet captain or technical pilot; but have left messages. My chief pilot has the information also. I recommend that a NOTAM be posted for this dangerous obstacle.
