Narrative:
On short final to runway; the engine stopped. The fuel selector had been on fullest tank (left tank). We switched to auxiliary tank; then right tank; then back to left tank. I was in right seat as instructor. I had the private/instrument rated student work the wobble pump; but to no avail -- engine would not restart. We landed in a field of tall grass short of runway. No damage to the aircraft or to property. No injuries. I was told after the fact that the ferry pilot had had engine difficulties the day before.

Title: BE35 SUFFERS ENG FAILURE ON FINAL APCH. LANDS SHORT OF RWY.
Narrative: ON SHORT FINAL TO RWY; THE ENG STOPPED. THE FUEL SELECTOR HAD BEEN ON FULLEST TANK (L TANK). WE SWITCHED TO AUX TANK; THEN R TANK; THEN BACK TO L TANK. I WAS IN R SEAT AS INSTRUCTOR. I HAD THE PVT/INST RATED STUDENT WORK THE WOBBLE PUMP; BUT TO NO AVAIL -- ENG WOULD NOT RESTART. WE LANDED IN A FIELD OF TALL GRASS SHORT OF RWY. NO DAMAGE TO THE ACFT OR TO PROPERTY. NO INJURIES.
