Narrative:
Received call (phone) from captain of aircraft X in ZZZ nov/tue/05 with PIREP 'after engine start 'rudder pressure' caution light illuminated.' I asked if there were any other cautions. Answer -- no. I then placed the rudder pressure regulator system (reduced pressure function 900 psi mode) on MEL using reference 27-14. On nov/mon/05; it was brought to my attention I should not have placed this write-up on MEL; since the MEL reference I used was incorrect for this malfunction. I have been instructed on the function of the caution light and will request formal training to prevent this from recurring.
