Narrative:
Night VMC; calm winds. On takeoff runway 25R noticed aircraft drifting into our takeoff path. Captain and I were busy cleaning up flaps and gear when I asked ATC 'what's with the aircraft in front of us?' (we both thought it lost an engine and drifted towards us.) ATC said 'just a B737;' then we hit their propeller wash at 1000 ft -- it was a rockin' ride. 2 questions: one; why did the tower not give us a 'heads up' that a B737-700 was going through our takeoff path. And second; why did the tower ever turn an aircraft on the parallel runway into our path. Lax is asking for trouble.
