Narrative:
Aircraft arrived needing oil service for #1 and #2 engines. This same log page had entry in oil service block indicating 2 pints added to #1 engine with a&P number and signature. There were approximately 3 flts for 3 hours. There were no other discrepancies on log page. If oil service was previously correct; then there is an oil consumption exceedance per maintenance manual; as I added 8 pints for my oil service. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that 8 pints of oil were added to #1 engine for 3 hours of flight. The logbook indicates 2 pints were added by contract maintenance in the departure station but his question is; 'was the oil tank svced to full or only to service limits?' in any case; the oil consumption for #1 engine is out of limits. Engine was inspected for oil leaks but none found. Item entered for 25 hour rechk and consumption check.
