Narrative:
The purpose of this flight was conducted under part 91 as a relocation flight. I had flown the teb to phl route the previous four nights. This flight was an aircraft reposition flight. The WX was VFR. I was given the teb 5 departure with my clearance and took off from runway 24. I am thoroughly familiar with this procedure; flying out of teb or 20 times per month. My departures normally are at night. The 1500 ft altitude restr is usually not an issue at these hours and I am cleared to 4000 ft on initial contact with departure. I guess I became conditioned to ignore the altitude restr. On this flight I continued to climb until ATC informed me of the altitude. I was then at 2000 ft. I was instructed to maintain 2000 ft at that time. Fortunately; I do not believe my violation caused a traffic conflict. This incident has shown me to be extra vigilant about not falling into the trap of anticipating a clearance.

Title: A PART 91 ACFT DEPARTING TEB CLBED TO 2000 FT BECAUSE THE PLT'S USUAL CLRNC IS TO 4000 FT; BUT HE DEPARTED WITH A NORMAL RESTR.
Narrative: THE PURPOSE OF THIS FLT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER PART 91 AS A RELOCATION FLT. I HAD FLOWN THE TEB TO PHL RTE THE PREVIOUS FOUR NIGHTS. THIS FLT WAS AN ACFT REPOSITION FLT. THE WX WAS VFR. I WAS GIVEN THE TEB 5 DEP WITH MY CLRNC AND TOOK OFF FROM RWY 24. I AM THOROUGHLY FAMILIAR WITH THIS PROC; FLYING OUT OF TEB OR 20 TIMES PER MONTH. MY DEPS NORMALLY ARE AT NIGHT. THE 1500 FT ALT RESTR IS USUALLY NOT AN ISSUE AT THESE HOURS AND I AM CLRED TO 4000 FT ON INITIAL CONTACT WITH DEP. I GUESS I BECAME CONDITIONED TO IGNORE THE ALT RESTR. ON THIS FLT I CONTINUED TO CLB UNTIL ATC INFORMED ME OF THE ALT. I WAS THEN AT 2000 FT. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO MAINTAIN 2000 FT AT THAT TIME. FORTUNATELY; I DO NOT BELIEVE MY VIOLATION CAUSED A TFC CONFLICT. THIS INCIDENT HAS SHOWN ME TO BE EXTRA VIGILANT ABOUT NOT FALLING INTO THE TRAP OF ANTICIPATING A CLRNC.
