Narrative:

2 hours into flight; left main tank fuel gauge and statelier quantity gauge became intermittent and eventually quit displaying completely. Called dispatch and maintenance technician both agreed ETOPS overwater flight to ZZZ2 not good idea. ZZZ chosen due to spare aircraft availability. No problems on arrival but did not have an overweight landing gross weight 350000 pounds. ZZZ personnel did great job of getting passenger and luggage moved to new aircraft.
