Narrative:
On jan/xa/06; I worked an ETOPS operation. I noted a prior deferral of PIREP l-hand engine fuel pressure indication per gpm 17-01. Noted that the fuel pressure indicator is a maintenance function only through EICAS 014 and selection and 'cont' deferral. Deferral was questioned by pilot; concurred that gpm 17-01 at that time may be used. Reviewed MEL general section and gpm 17-01. May have misinterped the applicability of gpm 17-01 in this case.

Title: A B767 WAS DISPATCHED WITH THE L ENG FUEL PRESSURE INDICATION DEFERRED AS INOP. TECHNICIAN INTERP OF THE MEL INCORRECT.
Narrative: ON JAN/XA/06; I WORKED AN ETOPS OP. I NOTED A PRIOR DEFERRAL OF PIREP L-HAND ENG FUEL PRESSURE INDICATION PER GPM 17-01. NOTED THAT THE FUEL PRESSURE INDICATOR IS A MAINT FUNCTION ONLY THROUGH EICAS 014 AND SELECTION AND 'CONT' DEFERRAL. DEFERRAL WAS QUESTIONED BY PLT; CONCURRED THAT GPM 17-01 AT THAT TIME MAY BE USED.
