Narrative:
We misread the teb 5 departure. Departing runway 24 we set 3000 ft in the altitude preset rather than 1500 ft; at 1500 ft I (PF) turned right to 280 degrees but continued a climb. ATC called us at 2200 ft and specified the 1500 ft SID restr; upon reviewing the plate later we verified this. (We had immediately returned to 1500 ft.) at the time of pre departure we were playing catch up...our flight plan wasn't in the system and we had to re-file...and we did not allocate the required attention; as it turned out; to reading the SID scrupulously. This will be highlighted in future pre departure reviews.
