Narrative:
Approximately 8 NM from the lit VORTAC -- with clearance direct to VORTAC followed by heading 050 degrees following VORTAC passage. Aircraft was using FMS for navigation -- and was properly sequenced to lit VORTAC as the required fix. Without input from the crew; the aircraft turned approximately 30 degrees to the right -- away from the VORTAC. Crew intervened and disengaged autoplt and proceeded back to VORTAC. Routing was to lit via the nobly 2 departure from dfw. Both crewmembers had noted this anomaly before on this route approaching lit -- on different dates and in different aircraft.
