Narrative:
1.5 NM north east of an arrival fix we were on descent; the plane reverted into an open descent and did not level at 10;000' at the constraint. We caught the altitude at 9700' 1.4 nm north of the fix at 250 kts. ATC contacted us for our altitude; we stated 9;700' and climbed back to 10000'.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: An A319's autopilot reverted to Open Descent as it began a transition to 250 kts approaching a 10;000' arrival constraint and descended to 9;700' before climbing back to the clearance altitude.
