Narrative:
Teb SID departure runway 24 requires runway heading to 1500 ft right turn to 280 degree heading. We climbed to 1600 ft and then turned to 280 degrees after trying to arrest the climb; after which time we were told to climb to 10000 ft. Have no idea why first officer (an experienced PIC with 14000 hours); did not stop at 1500 ft; at 1200 ft I started to call the altitude and nudge the stick but we still went to 1600 ft. I think he was trying to be smooth for the passenger; but there were none! Maybe he became confused account long ground delay. He did react; but way too slow. I should have arrested the climb at once.
