Narrative:
Primed engine with 4 strokes (outside temperature -2 degrees C). Engine started then stopped. Attempted second start. For third start primed with 3 strokes and 2 more starts attempted failed. While contemplating next action I saw smoke. I exited aircraft and applied fire extinguisher.

Title: C150 PLT ATTEMPTING TO START THE COLD ENG HAS SMOKE AND POSSIBLE FIRE.
Narrative: PRIMED ENG WITH 4 STROKES (OUTSIDE TEMP -2 DEGS C). ENG STARTED THEN STOPPED. ATTEMPTED SECOND START. FOR THIRD START PRIMED WITH 3 STROKES AND 2 MORE STARTS ATTEMPTED FAILED. WHILE CONTEMPLATING NEXT ACTION I SAW SMOKE. I EXITED ACFT AND APPLIED FIRE EXTINGUISHER.
