Narrative:
While performing 12 month condition inspection on glasair 1 experimental; found corrosion on crankshaft plug. Referred to airworthiness directive 98-02-08 which had never been complied with. Performed inspection in accordance with airworthiness directive instruction with no defects found. Thought that was all action required. Upon further review; found that airworthiness directive was recurring to next 5 yr inspection. Made airworthiness directive list stating that the airworthiness directive was no longer applicable which was incorrect. This mistake was not intentional and assumed being an experimental was not sure if the airworthiness directive was even applicable. Airworthiness directive had not been complied with before.
