Narrative:
When I was washing the right wing; the lift malfunctioned. I pulled the joystick backward; to go backward; and the lift surged forward; hitting the trailing edge of the right engine. My lead technician and I called facilities maintenance; and they came to fix it; but they could not; so they hauled it off to their shop to try to fix it. The lift has been in and out of service for some time for the same reason. You can move the joystick and it surges either forward or backward. The lift was taken OTS.
