Narrative:
Aircraft X was in ZZZ for paint. It required a special flight permit for a pre-service check. I did the permit for ferry flight. It was due to depart at XA30. I did the permit and entered it into my turnover to next shift. It had not departed ZZZ yet. I finished the permit; faxed it to ZZZ and turned it over to next shift and went home. I came in on friday morning. I was informed by maintenance planning that they had not received confirmation of the pre-service check yet on aircraft X or aircraft Y which was also in ZZZ for paint and we ferried it as well for the pre-service check. Later; we received call from the captain that he had an open write-up and ferry permit in his book for a pre-service check. We immediately placed it OTS and called for a road trip.
