Narrative:
Routinely; when en route to pdk from central/southern florida; I file the following route for the georgia portion of the trip: amg dbn trbow tuckr pdk. ZJX first rertes me to the dbn.TRBOW7 arrival; which is noted 'turboprops only.' the cessna 414A has continental tsio-520-nb piston engines. After handoff to the first ZTL sector; I am again rerted to dbn V179 husky. Upon handoff to atl approach; I am yet again rerted to trbow tuckr pdk; my original filed route. Ultimately; and usually still 50+ out; I am placed on radar vectors for the remainder of the trip. This may vary somewhat depending on WX; traffic and runways in use at pdk; but the above is typical. Pilot workload could be dramatically reduced with coordination between ZMA; ZJX; ZTL; and atl TRACON to establish a consistent standard arrival to pdk from the southeast which all controllers at the facilities above are familiar with. Approaching one of the busiest class B airspaces in the world is not a good time to be head-down reprogramming the FMS/GPS for multiple rertes.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT DESCRIBED FREQUENT ATC RERTES BTWN SEVERAL ATC FACILITIES THAT INCLUDED ZMA; ZJX; ZTL; AND A80.
Narrative: ROUTINELY; WHEN ENRTE TO PDK FROM CENTRAL/SOUTHERN FLORIDA; I FILE THE FOLLOWING RTE FOR THE GEORGIA PORTION OF THE TRIP: AMG DBN TRBOW TUCKR PDK. ZJX FIRST RERTES ME TO THE DBN.TRBOW7 ARR; WHICH IS NOTED 'TURBOPROPS ONLY.' THE CESSNA 414A HAS CONTINENTAL TSIO-520-NB PISTON ENGS. AFTER HDOF TO THE FIRST ZTL SECTOR; I AM AGAIN RERTED TO DBN V179 HUSKY. UPON HDOF TO ATL APCH; I AM YET AGAIN RERTED TO TRBOW TUCKR PDK; MY ORIGINAL FILED RTE. ULTIMATELY; AND USUALLY STILL 50+ OUT; I AM PLACED ON RADAR VECTORS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP. THIS MAY VARY SOMEWHAT DEPENDING ON WX; TFC AND RWYS IN USE AT PDK; BUT THE ABOVE IS TYPICAL. PLT WORKLOAD COULD BE DRAMATICALLY REDUCED WITH COORD BTWN ZMA; ZJX; ZTL; AND ATL TRACON TO ESTABLISH A CONSISTENT STANDARD ARR TO PDK FROM THE SE WHICH ALL CTLRS AT THE FACILITIES ABOVE ARE FAMILIAR WITH. APCHING ONE OF THE BUSIEST CLASS B AIRSPACES IN THE WORLD IS NOT A GOOD TIME TO BE HEAD-DOWN REPROGRAMMING THE FMS/GPS FOR MULTIPLE RERTES.
