Narrative:
We completed the descent and approach checklists; but failed to complete the before landing checklists which included dropping the gear. We were distraction from the checklist by paying too much attention to the airspeed and altitude (we were high and fast at approximately the 2 mi point from the runway). Supplemental information from acn 692041: I believe that the critical factor that led to the incident was the unexpected and early lowering of the flaps and the failure to refer to the final gumps checklist on final. Early flaps was a reversal of my normal habit patterns and that occurred at a moment of information overload and concern about the pilot's performance. I may have subconsciously assumed that I was in a fixed gear aircraft. I was looking at what was happening and not at what was missed.

Narrative: WE COMPLETED THE DSCNT AND APCH CHKLISTS; BUT FAILED TO COMPLETE THE BEFORE LNDG CHKLISTS WHICH INCLUDED DROPPING THE GEAR. WE WERE DISTR FROM THE CHKLIST BY PAYING TOO MUCH ATTN TO THE AIRSPD AND ALT (WE WERE HIGH AND FAST AT APPROX THE 2 MI POINT FROM THE RWY). SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 692041: I BELIEVE THAT THE CRITICAL FACTOR THAT LED TO THE INCIDENT WAS THE UNEXPECTED AND EARLY LOWERING OF THE FLAPS AND THE FAILURE TO REFER TO THE FINAL GUMPS CHKLIST ON FINAL. EARLY FLAPS WAS A REVERSAL OF MY NORMAL HABIT PATTERNS AND THAT OCCURRED AT A MOMENT OF INFO OVERLOAD AND CONCERN ABOUT THE PLT'S PERFORMANCE. I MAY HAVE SUBCONSCIOUSLY ASSUMED THAT I WAS IN A FIXED GEAR ACFT. I WAS LOOKING AT WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND NOT AT WHAT WAS MISSED.
